World Menstrual Hygiene Day was observed with great enthusiasm on 13th June 2026 at Narayan Nursing College and Narayan Skill Development & Training Center, Jamuhar, Rohtas, Bihar. The program was organized by the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology Nursing under the theme “Together for a #PeriodFriendlyWorld”. The event was conducted from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at LT-3 of Narayan Nursing College and the Skill Development Centre.
The celebration was held under the esteemed guidance of Prof. Dr. K. Latha, Dean-cum-Principal, and was graced by the presence of Vice Principal Prof. Dr. Shaveta Sharma. The program witnessed active participation from employees of the Narayan Skill Development Center, B.Sc. Nursing students (2nd and 6th Semester), and GNM 1st-year students.
The event commenced with an engaging puppet show presented by the B.Sc. Nursing VI Semester students, aiming to spread awareness about menstrual hygiene and to break prevalent myths and taboos. This was followed by a welcome address by Ms. Anju Singh and the formal unveiling of the theme by the Dean-cum-Principal.
An informative awareness session was conducted by Ms. Anu Kumari (M.Sc. Nursing 2nd Year), covering key aspects such as:
- Physiology of menstruation
- Personal hygiene practices
- Usage of sanitary products (pads, tampons, menstrual cups)
- Nutritional care during menstruation
- Safe disposal of menstrual waste
- Common menstrual problems and myths
An interactive question-and-answer session encouraged student engagement and clarified doubts. A second puppet show reinforced important messages regarding menstrual health and hygiene.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Pragya Bhusan, followed by the National Anthem. The event successfully enhanced awareness, promoted hygienic practices, and encouraged open discussions on menstrual health among participants.
Overall, the program served as an impactful initiative towards creating a period-friendly and informed society.
