Narayan Nursing College Organizes World Hypertension Day Health Camp

The Department of Medical and Surgical Nursing at Narayan Nursing College observed World Hypertension Day on 16 May 2026 under the theme “Controlling Hypertension Together.” On this occasion, a community health camp was organized at Nahauna Village with the active participation of 20 students from B.Sc. Nursing IV Semester and 1 student from M.Sc. Nursing II Year.

The health camp included blood pressure screening, weight monitoring, blood glucose testing, haemoglobin (Hb) assessment, BMI evaluation, general health assessment, health education sessions, poster presentations, and awareness activities focused on the prevention and control of hypertension. The camp was conducted under the consultation and guidance of medical experts.

During the program, students educated villagers about the risk factors of hypertension, healthy dietary habits, regular physical exercise, stress management, medication adherence, and lifestyle modifications to prevent complications related to high blood pressure. The initiative aimed to spread awareness, encourage early detection, and promote healthy living practices among the rural community.

The event was organized under the guidance of Prof. Dr. K. Latha, Dean-cum-Principal; Prof. Dr. Shaveta Sharma, Vice Principal; and Prof. Dr. P. Ponnarasi, Head of the Department of Medical Surgical Nursing. The activities were supervised by Asst. Prof. Mr. R. Srinivasan and Nursing Tutors Mr. Shivanshu Kumar, Mr. Vikrant Kumar, and Mr. Akshay Deep Deewan. The camp was conducted from 10:00 a.m. to 02:00 p.m. at Nahauna Village.

Around 55 villagers benefited from the health camp through health screening and educational sessions. The enthusiastic participation of faculty members and community representatives motivated the students and contributed to the success of the event.

The program successfully enhanced public awareness regarding hypertension prevention and management while also strengthening the students’ practical skills in community health nursing, patient education, communication, and health assessment.
