World Organ Donation Day 2026

Theme: “Gift of Life: Empowering Communities Through Organ Donation”

World Organ Donation Day 2026 was observed on 13 August 2026 by the Department of Medical Surgical Nursing, Narayan Nursing College, Gopal Narayan Singh University, Jamuhar, with the theme “Gift of Life: Empowering Communities Through Organ Donation.”

The programme was conducted under the guidance of Prof. Dr. K. Latha, Dean-cum-Principal, and Prof. Dr. Shaveta Sharma, Vice Principal, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. P. Ponnarsi, HOD, Department of Medical Surgical Nursing.

The programme commenced with a prayer song, followed by the welcome address delivered by Mr. R. Srinivasan, Associate Professor. The theme of the programme was unfolded by Prof. Dr. P. Ponnarsi, followed by a special address by Prof. Dr. K. Latha, Dean-cum-Principal.

An informative awareness session was delivered by Dr. Manish Mandal, Chairman, SOTTO Bihar & Medical Superintendent, IGIMS, along with Ms. Ekta Rani, IEC Consultant. The session highlighted the importance of organ donation and transplantation, the need for public awareness, and the vital role of healthcare professionals in encouraging and promoting organ donation.

Students of B.Sc. Nursing 4th Semester and M.Sc. Nursing 2nd Year actively participated in the programme and gained valuable knowledge regarding organ donation, transplantation, and the importance of creating awareness within the community.

The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Mr. Vikrant Kumar, M.Sc. Nursing Tutor, who expressed sincere gratitude to all the dignitaries, resource persons, faculty members, and students for their valuable contributions and active participation.

The programme ended with the National Anthem, marking the successful conclusion of the World Organ Donation Day 2026 observance.
