Introduction
NSS Unit-I, Gopal Narayan Singh University (GNSU), celebrated NSS Foundation Day with an awareness programme focused on “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” and “Poshan Maah” on 24 September 2026 at the Narayan Institute of Pharmacy, GNSU Campus.
The programme aimed to spread awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse, the importance of balanced nutrition, healthy lifestyle practices, and the role of young people in building a healthy and drug-free society.
Programme Activities
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from GNM and B.Sc. Nursing 1st Year students of the 2026–2027 academic session. Various competitions were organized to encourage students to express their ideas and promote awareness among their peers and the wider community.
The activities included:
- Poem Competition: Nasha Mukt Bharat / Healthy and Nutritious India
- Speech Competition: Harmful Effects of Substance Abuse and Importance of Proper Nutrition
- Essay Writing Competition: Drug-Free India, Healthy Youth, Nutrition and a Healthy Society
Students of B.Sc. Nursing 1st Semester, Sections A and B, actively participated in the competitions and demonstrated creativity, knowledge, communication skills and social awareness. Students also secured First and Second positions in various events.
Objectives
The programme focused on:
- Creating awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse and addiction.
- Promoting the vision of a drug-free India and a healthy young generation.
- Encouraging awareness about balanced nutrition and healthy lifestyle practices.
- Motivating students to participate in social awareness and community-service activities.
- Developing leadership, communication, creativity and social responsibility among students and NSS volunteers.
Conclusion
The NSS Foundation Day and Nasha Mukt Bharat–Poshan Maah Awareness Programme was successfully conducted with active participation from the students. The competitions provided a meaningful platform for students to share their ideas and spread awareness about drug prevention, nutrition, healthy living and social responsibility.
The achievements of the participating students, including securing First and Second positions in various competitions, further added to the success of the programme. The event reinforced the importance of youth participation in creating a healthier, responsible and drug-free society.
