The Department of Medical and Surgical Nursing at Narayan Nursing College observed World Diabetes Day on 24 November 2025, aligning with the global theme “Diabetes and Wellbeing.” Students from B.Sc. Nursing III Semester and GNM II Year participated actively, showcasing their knowledge and dedication to community health.
The program featured a dummy demonstration, poster presentations, and health education sessions covering essential topics such as diet management, diabetic foot care, blood glucose monitoring, and wound care. These activities were conducted in front of the NMCH OPD area with the aim of increasing public awareness, promoting early identification of symptoms, and teaching basic diabetes management strategies.
The event was organized under the guidance of Prof. Dr. K. Latha (Dean-cum-Principal), Prof. Dr. Shaveta Sharma (Vice Principal), and Prof. Dr. P. Ponnarasi (Head, Department of Medical Surgical Nursing). Nursing tutors Mr. Biplab Dinda, Mr. Shivanshu Kumar, Mr. Vikrant Kumar, and Ms. Monika Philips supervised and supported approximately forty students throughout the program, scheduled from 09:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Around one hundred OPD patients attended the awareness sessions. The gracious presence of Dr. Punit Singh (Medical Superintendent), Mr. Upendra Kumar Singh (General Manager), Dr. Vivek Sinha (MD, Biochemistry), and other faculty members further motivated the students.
The event successfully enhanced public understanding of diabetes while strengthening students’ skills in community health education, demonstration, and patient interaction.
