On the occasion of World Cervical Cancer Awareness Day 2026, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing, Narayan Nursing College, Gopal Narayan Singh University, organized a Cervical Cancer Awareness Program on 23rd February 2026 at Narayan Medical College & Hospital.
The program was conducted under the theme “Empower the Storytellers”, highlighting the importance of spreading awareness through shared experiences, education, and active community participation. Held in the Gynaecology OPD, the event was organized under the guidance of respected Dean-cum-Principal Prof. Dr. K. Latha and Vice Principal Prof. Dr. Shaveta Sharma. Faculty members of the OBG Nursing Department and 98 students of GNM 3rd year actively participated in the program.
An informative health education session was conducted focusing on the causes and risk factors of cervical cancer, the importance of HPV vaccination, screening methods such as the Pap smear test, early signs and symptoms, and preventive measures including lifestyle modifications. Educational materials were displayed, and awareness messages were delivered to patients and attendants. Nursing students actively interacted with women, encouraging regular screening and promoting preventive healthcare practices.
The program successfully enhanced awareness regarding cervical cancer prevention and early detection, while also strengthening the role of nursing students as health educators and advocates for women’s health. The event concluded with appreciation for the dedicated efforts of faculty members, students, and hospital authorities whose cooperation and support made the program a success.
